How the Reverse Calculation Works
The reverse MDR calculator works backwards from your desired net settlement to determine the required gross transaction amount.
For standard merchant (without GST):
Gross = Desired Net ÷ (1 − 0.4%)
For standard merchant (with GST):
Gross = Desired Net ÷ (1 − 0.4% × 1.18)
Subject to the ₹300 MDR cap — if the cap applies:
Gross = Desired Net + ₹300 (+ GST on ₹300 if applicable)
Gross = Desired Net ÷ (1 − 0.4%)
For standard merchant (with GST):
Gross = Desired Net ÷ (1 − 0.4% × 1.18)
Subject to the ₹300 MDR cap — if the cap applies:
Gross = Desired Net + ₹300 (+ GST on ₹300 if applicable)
For example, if you want to receive ₹10,000 as a standard merchant (without GST): Gross = ₹10,000 ÷ (1 − 0.004) = ₹10,040.16. The customer pays ₹10,040.16, MDR of ₹40.16 is deducted, and you receive approximately ₹10,000.
