What Is UPIMDR.com?

UPIMDR.com is a free, independent online calculator designed to help Indian merchants, businesses, e-commerce sellers, freelancers and finance professionals estimate UPI Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges, GST on MDR, and net merchant settlement amounts.

The site was built because UPI MDR rules are scattered across multiple official sources and can be confusing — especially for small merchants who need to understand their actual settlement amount without the complexity of reading regulatory circulars.

How We Calculate

All calculations are based on a central configuration file that stores the current MDR rules. When NPCI or the government updates MDR rules, only this configuration file needs to be updated — all calculators on the site reflect the change immediately.

The calculation logic follows this framework:

  • If the transaction is P2P or a zero-MDR category: MDR = ₹0
  • If the amount is ≤ ₹2,000 (for standard/essential categories): MDR = ₹0
  • If standard merchant above ₹2,000: MDR = min(amount × 0.4%, ₹300)
  • If essential sector above ₹2,000: MDR = ₹5 flat
  • If capital market: MDR = min(amount × 0.02%, ₹300)
  • GST = MDR × 18% (where applicable)
  • Settlement = Transaction Amount − MDR − GST

All calculations are estimates. Actual settlement may vary based on your specific merchant agreement, acquiring bank and applicable rules.
